The Basilio “Quiet” Montilla Scholarship Fund

Basilio dedicated his life to movement education. He was a gifted instructor who shared his passion for parkour with students from all walks of life. To honor his memory and spirit, we are collecting donations for the Basilio Montilla Scholarship Fund with support from our friends at The Movement Creative. This scholarship fund is controlled by Basilio’s family and 100% of your contribution will go towards supporting movement education for NYC youth who may not have easy access to parkour classes. We hope that this dedication to the next generation of movers and leaders honors the legacy of Basilio and continues to inspire all to train hard and stay humble.

Purchase a BQM print

Photographer Ben Franke collaborated with Basilio for many photo projects, including a series of flour shoots at night. Ben is offering 8”x10” prints of his work if you’re interested in having a tribute to Basilio at your home. “Rarely does one person have such a huge impact on your life. Without Basilio I never would have been introduced to the Parkour community in New York. I met him in 2008, while I was a studying at NYU looking for a photography project for class.

I reached out on an NYPK forum and Basilio responded inviting me to come to a training session in Battery Park. Because of Basilio welcoming me with open arms, I was able to stay in touch with him over the years and, through him, met the rest of the community. Basilio’s kindness and spirit will always live on and will always inspire me to be a better person.”

BQM Tribute Shirt

Artist Brian Prince dedicated this portrait to Basilio in October 2015. We'll be doing a limited run of these shirts, screen-printed by a local printer, available for pre-order on The Movement Creative's store. All proceeds will go to a designated fund controlled by Basilio's family to support community endeavors.

NOTE: This is a pre-order shirt that will only be printed ONCE. Orders will be closed on 10/31/20. Expect fulfilment in 3-4 weeks afterwards.

 Raffle Tickets

To help raise money for the Basilio Montilla Scholarship Fund, we will host a raffle on Facebook live on 11/1/20 at 12:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased online on The Movement Creative's store or in person at the memorial Jam on Saturday 10/24/20

Prizes include regular and oversized prints of photographs by Ben Franke, custom 11" trainers, and limited edition t-shirts

We can also spray paint BQM onto the center of a trainer. If you choose to customize a trainer to BQM we will donate $10 to a designated fund controlled by Basilio's family to support community endeavors.
